Biography

At the young age of 20, Van der Mescht has achieved more than most players his age, after making his Vodacom Super Rugby debut and playing senior Currie Cup rugby. He came through the SA Rugby Youth Week structures and represented the SA Schools team for two years before making it to the Junior Springbok team this year. He is a towering lock with a strong physical presence and he backs this up with good speed, which could come in handy in the World Rugby U20 Championship.
