Four first half tries by the visitors from Kimberley ensured the bonus-point and a second victory. Wendal Wehr, Andre Swarts, Anthony Volminck and AJ le Roux all dotted while George Whitehead was successful with two of his first half attempts at goal. Jaywinn Juries, who was on goal kicking duty for the Down Touch Griffons, kicked four first half penalty goals.

It was Juries who opened the scoring with a penalty goal as early as the third minute, and he kicked a further two penalties following Wehr's converted try. As the first half headed into the final 10 minutes, the scores were level at 12-all, and neither side giving the other the chance to break through.

Two quick tries for Tafel Lager Griquas changed the dynamics of the match though. First, speedster Volminck dotted down with Whitehead adding the extras, while hooker Le Roux had the final say seconds before the half-time siren sounded when he scored to give the visitors a strong 24-12 lead.

The half-time team talk must have sparked some fire within the home side, as it was all the Down Touch Griffons for the opening 20 minutes of the second half. Juries scored and converted his own try, while outside centre Neill Stannard also got his name on the try-scoring sheet, which handed the lead to the home side for the first time since the third minute.

However, this surge this was shortlived. Whitehead kicked a further two penalties and with replacement hooker Kwezi Mkhafu's 66th minute try, the visiting side did more than enough to claim a convincing win.
